We are aware that everyone is currently battling increasing prices in all aspects of living, we have composed this article to try to help you understand why our costs are as they are, and to help you decide if LearnOnline is the right provider for you.
Bespoke Courses
The courses are developed by qualified teachers, following the awarding body specification or syllabus. All accessed via a secure online learner platform that enables the learner to view the developed course and access the homework / assignments, contact the course tutor and keep up to date with notifications from the LearnOnline Team.
The courses are tailored by the tutor for the learner and can include access to additional resources, articles or videos relating to each topic. Along with the tutor marked assignments every course includes a set of tutor-marked exam papers to help the learner prepare for their exams. LearnOnline have access to the latest, locked papers from the awarding bodies and update the course annually to ensure the learner has the most up to date papers to practice with.
Tutors
All of our tutors are qualified teachers and specialise in the subjects they support. As an employer, we ensure fair payment and our tutors are paid to reflect the work they carry out. They provide quality feedback to support the learners, but they also care that our learners do well and we feel that their pay should reflect this.
Tutor marked assignments
Utilising the experience, we have as a further education college; we know that learners achieve higher grades with regular homework or assignments.
We have included a high number of assignments to ensure the learners are submitting regular work throughout their studies, maintaining regular contact with their tutors. This in turn helps the tutors identify weaknesses within the topic so that they can give quality feedback and support.
- The IGCSEs have 30 tutor marked assignments
- The A levels have 60 tutor marked assignments
College experience
All the LearnOnline staff are employed by Pembrokeshire College, a mainstream further education college in Pembrokeshire, South West Wales. This means that all staff are employed under employment regulations, including DBS and qualification checks. Staff are also required to take regular training in safeguarding, equity, diversity and inclusion, data protection, safety online, amongst others. Staff are also able to further their knowledge with wellbeing and additional learning needs, all staff are supported by specialist teams within the College.
As a college of further education, we have access to a very experienced UCAS team. We are happy to liaise with them on a regular basis, ensuring that we can fully support our learners with any questions they may have about university applications.
We have a vast knowledge of exams and how they work for home educated learners. We are able to chat this through with you, explaining the more complex things such as non-exam assessments and transferred candidates. We can advise on how to find an exam centre that suits you and make suggestions on when to book and how much money to save!
Additional support and duty of care
With over 10 years’ experience in online support and we know how best to support our learners. Each learner is unique and are treated as such. We don’t hassle you to login in and submit work, but if you ask for us to do this, we will.
We are happy to be in regular contact with parents to ensure their child is studying and progressing.
If there are specific needs the learner may need, we are here to discuss options. As an online provider we cannot offer individual learning support workers, but we can discuss learner’s needs and offer support in terms of software that may help with reading and writing. We are a member of RNIB Bookshare, which offers a large range of textbooks for our learners who struggle with reading, along with other solutions that may work.
All learners and parents have access to our online support module, which includes;
